About

My name is Joe Forsyth, and I am the commissioner of the Zoo Zone Fantasy Hockey League. I started this blog to share my thoughts and ideas about fantasy hockey in general, with some focus as to how it relates to my league.

Zoo Zone is a fantasy hockey league that was founded in 2005. My dad was the original commissioner until he passed away in 2008. The league is currently run through ESPN and has 14 members.

The name "Zoo Zone" actually came from my dad, who founded the league. My dad worked for the New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT). Occasionally, while working in construction zones he would find random objects along side the road. One such object was a black hat with white text that simple read "Zoo Krew" (or something similar). The term "Zoo Krew" (or "Zoo" for short) became an alias for my dad. He named the floor hockey team he captained after it and used it as an email address.  When I sat down with my dad and talked about starting a fantasy hockey league, we didn't really have any creative names handy. My dad decided to simple call it the "Zoo Zone" and the name stuck.
In loving memory of my dad...
